Free Lesson Plan for Children – Ezekiel and the Dry Bones (Ezekiel 37:1-14)

Below are some activity ideas for a children’s lesson based on Ezekiel 37:1-14 and the Valley of Dry Bones. These ideas could be used during Sunday School, children’s church, or mid-week programs, for after-school or preschool programs, or for some Bible-based fun at home.

Skeleton Dot-to-Dot: Print copies of the dot-to-dot puzzle found at this link. This would make a good early arrival activity. Students can work on completing and coloring the puzzle as they enter your classroom.

Bone Template: Print copies of the blank bone template below, and cut out the bones. Words of a Bible memory verse can be written on the bones, or you can use the blank bones as a visual aid during the Bible story.

Dry Bones Song: The action song in the video below summarizes the story of the dry bones. Encourage children to point to the various parts of their body mentioned during the song.

Cotton Swab Skeleton Craft: This craft, demonstrated in the video below, requires only a few simple supplies. Encourage children to write the reference of the Bible passage on their paper, or you can print out a paper with the reference on it for them to glue on their finished craft.

Bones Snack: Cheetos has created a seasonal snack shaped like bones. Give children a handful and see if they can put the bones together like the bones came together in the Bible story.

Bone Candy: As children are leaving, you can give them some bone-shaped candy as a take-home reminder of the lesson.
